How can I listen to a voicemail?

When someone leaves you a voicemail through you XOIP number, there are two ways you can listen to a voicemail:

  1. The voicemail is sent to as your email as an attached sound file. Most devices will be able to play the sound file, when you click on it.
  2. (Coming soon) When logged in to your account open the ‘Traffic’ page and select ‘Voice Calls’. You can see all calls that happend on your number. When a voicemail was left in call, you can play it right there on the page.

How do I change the email address where voicemail is sent to?

By default, any voicemail that comes in will be sent to the email that you signed up with. You can change that in the call plan. Go to the voicemail bar and click on ‘Edit’. A panel opens where you can change the email address.

How do I change my voicemail greeting?

In your call plan, click ‘Edit’ in the voicemail bar. You see four options for setting your greeting

  • Play standard greeting – Dutch
  • Play standard greeting – English
  • Play recorded greeting
  • Upload audio file

If you choose ‘Play recorded greeting’ you can record a greeting straight from your device. Follow the instruction. It will activate on your XOIP number with a slight delay of less than a minute.

I can’t change my voicemail greeting when calling my own number.

When XOIP overhauled the system, we decided to not bring that feature to the new system. Very few people used this feature. The new system has a better way to do that. When logged into your account, open the call plan. Click ‘Edit’ in the voicemail bar and select ‘Play recorded greeting’. Follow the instructions to record you own voicemail greeting.

I can’t listen to my voicemail anymore when calling my own number.

How do I forward my XOIP number to my mobile phone?

In the call plan look for the “Send call to” bar. Turn the toggle on (to blue) and click ‘Edit’. This opens a panel where you can enter the phone number where you want the calls to forward to.

Can I change how long my phone rings before it goes to voicemail?

If you have set your XOIP number up to automatically send calls to another phone number, you can set how long the phone will rings, before going to voicemail. In the call plan look for the “Send call to” bar. Click ‘Edit’. This opens a panel where you can set the ring duration.

The same is true when you set up a call list. You can set the ring duration for each individual number.

When I receive a forwarded call on my mobile, can I see my XOIP number in my screen (CLI), instead of the caller number?

Yes, this can be useful if you have multiple XOIP numbers and you want to know through which of those a call comes in. By default the number of the person calling your XOIP number is displayed. You can change that by opening the call plan and click ‘Edit’ in the ‘Send call to…’ bar. In the panel that opens you can change the Caller ID to show ‘My number’.

Why can I not forward a call to multiple numbers (call list)?

Not all subscriptions support this feature. If your subscription supports this feature you find it by opening the call plan and selecting ‘call list’ in the ‘Send call to..’ bar.

Can I forward my current phone to my XOIP subscription number?

Yes you can.

Forwarding calls from a fixed phone

  • To let XOIP pick up your calls dial *21*0841234567# (substitute 0841234567 with your own XOIP number).
  • To disable forwarding to your XOIP number, dial # 21#
  • To forward after 4 rings, replace 21 with 61.
  • ISDN: use 210 and 610 instead of 21 and 61.

Forwarding calls from a mobile phone:

There are various options available via mobile phone. The most popular are below. Check your phone manual, or use the settings menu on your phone.

  • To let XOIP pick up calls if you don’t answer, dial **004*0841234567*11# (replacing 0841234567 with your own XOIP number).
  • To disable forwarding to your XOIP number, dial ## 004**11#

Can I forward call on my XOIP number to my mobile phone?

Yes you can. This is a core feature of XOIP. In the call plan look for the “Send call to” bar. Turn the toggle on (to blue) and click ‘Edit’. This opens a panel where you can enter your mobile phone number. You can just as easily forward to a landline or any other phone number.

Are there costs involved in forwarding a call?

Depending on you subscription, you may have a number of free minutes allowance per month. In that case you do not pay anything for forwarding calls until those minutes are used up. In most cases the free minutes are more than enough for normal  use to never have to pay for forwarding.

If you do not have a free minutes allowance, or if you ran out, XOIP charges a low rate for forwarding calls. The rate is composed of a start rate per call of €0.04 and a per minute rate. Please check the Call Forwarding Rates.

What happens when I run out of free minutes?

Your incoming calls will still be forwarded. However, the forwarded call will now be charged on your XOIP credit. If you also do not have any credit available, the call will go automatically go to voicemail.

Can I receive international calls?

If you have a geographic number, you can. However if you use a 084 number you can receive calls from networks within the Netherlands. In case you expect to receive calls from outside The Netherlands, we recommend that you opt for a geographic number.

Can I forward my Dutch XOIP number to international (mobile) numbers?

With a Voice Light or Voice Pro subscription you can forward calls to telephone numbers in 197 landen. With a Voice Free subscription you can only forward to Dutch fixed or mobile numbers. Calling rates varies per country. You can see the actual rate for a specific number when you enter it in the calling plan. International forwarding in not covered by the free monthly minutes of Voice Pro subscriptions.

Why do you apply usage requirements to Voice Free subscriptions?

Voice Free has no subscription fee, but usage is not free. When calls are forwarded to another number or to voicemail a small amount is deducted from your XOIP credit balance. This is how XOIP can offer this subscription without monthly or yearly fee. However this also means that the number must remain in use for XOIP to be able to continue to provide it to you. Therefore minimum usage requirements apply to Voice Free subscriptions.

What are the minimum usage requirements for the Voice Free subscription?

Voice Free subscriptions must receive at least 1 minute call time within a period of 90 days.

XOIP will notify you in advance if it looks like you will not reach that low threshold. After 90 days with insufficient call time, XOIP will cancel your subscription.

Can i sign up for an unlimited number of Voice Free subscriptions?

No, to avoid abuse, you can sign up for no more than three Voice Free subscriptions.

Can I bring my existing number to XOIP?

Yes, you can port your existing Dutch phone number to XOIP. When signing up for a subscription, you can upload a recent invoice of your current telecom provider. XOIP will take care of the rest and will inform you when your number is active with XOIP. This can take up to 10 days.

XOIP charges €50 for porting your number to XOIP.

Can I bring my XOIP number to another telecom provider?

Yes, geographic numbers that were ported into XOIP can also be ported out. Please let your new provider know you want to port your number. They will contact XOIP to make it happen. 084 or 087 numbers that were newly issued to you by XOIP cannot be ported out.

XOIP charges €50 in admin fees for porting your number to another provider.
